Puppy Price

Includes expenses like food, grooming, and the work and time we put into each puppy. Like children, puppies are a lot of work. Our puppies live with us and have been well loved and cuddled by all of us, but especially by my children. Until they leave our home they are a part of our daily family life and routine. They are raised using music (aiding in brain development), are fed a premium puppy food, and given preliminary potty training. Meaning their environment is kept clean & we strive to help them learn the designated place to eliminate throughout the day & night. This being said you can definitely expect that your puppy will still have accidents when you bring them home. Being diligent and consistent with the potty training process is key and will create success. Each puppy will also come with a care package which includes:

  • A little kibble for the road

  • Package of probiotics (helps to strengthen their system to make the transition easier). Additionally, I will have given probiotics to your puppy before and after immunization.

  • A blanket or toy with mom’s scent will be sent home with your new puppy to ease transitioning.

  • Your high-resolution, professionally shot photograph of your puppy

  • A checklist of puppy care tips

  • Support from Baxter & Bella

Vetting Care & DNA

Puppies coming to you 9-11 weeks old receive the DAPPv vaccine (parvovirus, parainfluenza, adenovirus, distemper), parasite control, veterinary health record & microchip. Puppies coming to you at 12 weeks will have their 2 rounds of DAPPv, & If puppies are sold at 12 weeks AND going outside of Canada they will have the rabies and bordetella vaccine. All puppies will have been vet checked.

Genetic testing is an additional cost to our overall price, but is something we are willing to offer. Irregardless, puppies are sold with a health guarantee. In the unlikely event, your puppies testing does not come back clear, you will be given the option of having your deposit refunded or to have your puppy at a discounted price. Please note that being a carrier does not necessarily pose a risk for your puppies health, so long as the trait is recessive.

Reproductive Sterilization

Reproductive sterilization is done primarily to ensure ethical breeding and all puppies are sold with sterilization. For females the procedure totally rules out some types of cancers and infections such as pyometria. Leaving females intact who are not going to be bred increases the chance of health issues with every cycle. For males, either a neuter or removal of the epididymis can be done. The latter allows for hormone production if desired.

The little puppies bounce back so fast. They come home a few hours after surgery and are eating, drinking and playing like nothing happened and no cones needed! They tolerate it much easier than a mature dog. Also, there are more complications doing it later/higher risk of problems. More bleeds where they have to go back in and fix it, and more infections, meaning more antibiotics, and recovery time is longer.

The thing our vet has helped us to understand is that all the concerns that may or may not be associated with early spay/neuter (the science does not actually give evidence of drawbacks) are still the same at the traditional age for spay/neuter, as they don’t typically have operational hormones yet either.

According the the SPCA “While the traditional age for neutering is six to nine months, healthy puppies as young as eight weeks old can be neutered. Dogs can be neutered as adults as well, although there’s a slightly higher risk of post-operative complications in older dogs, dogs that are overweight or dogs that have health problems.”
